An altercation aboard a bus travelling from Verulam CBD to Trenance Park – KZN, resulted in the detonation of tear gas earlier today (Tuesday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to Jabu Ngcobo Road near Mountview – KZN and on arrival were informed that a passenger lit a cigarette inside the bus. Another commuter, who suffers from breathing difficulties, requested that the smoker extinguish it. The situation quickly escalated into a heated dispute.
During the confrontation, the smoker produced pepper spray, which was discharged amid the tussle, causing distress among the passengers. No injuries were reported.
No criminal charges were desired by any of the involved parties.
