Quick coordination between KZNVIP units, Security Partner and tracking teams led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle after a couple was hijacked outside their home on Newcentre Drive, Newlands West, on Wednesday evening, 12 November 2025.
The KZNVIP Control Centre received the initial call from the complainant reporting the incident. All available response units were immediately dispatched.
Upon arrival, KZNVIP Response Officers made contact with the complainant, who reported that she and her husband had just arrived home and were opening their driveway gate when an unknown vehicle stopped behind them. Three male suspects exited the vehicle, armed with firearms, and held the couple at gunpoint.
During the incident, the complaintant was struck on the head with the butt of a firearm and robbed of an undisclosed amount of valuables. The suspects then forced the couple out of their white Nissan Qashqai and fled the scene in both vehicles.
A short while later, the vehicle’s tracking system activated, indicating movement near Siyandamazulu Primary School in KwaMashu. KZNVIP Response Units, together with tracking and security partners, were dispatched to the area, where the hijacked vehicle was successfully recovered.
KZNVIP Medical Teams treated the complainant on scene for minor head injuries sustained during the incident. The matter has been handed over to SAPS for further investigation.
