The SAPS in Tshwane continued its crime combatting efforts through an integrated, zero-tolerance operation with Operation Shanela, that was conducted on Thursday, 13 November 2025, in the Mamelodi-West and Mamelodi-East policing precincts.The operation was once again planned and executed under the command of the District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major-General Samuel Thine, and included members from various SAPS units across the district.
Detectives once again started the operation on Wednesday night and apprehended 302 suspects for various criminal offences, including 3 for murder, 13 for attempted murder, 7 for armed robbery, and 2 for rape.
In the early hours of Thursday morning, three operational teams were assembled and deployed to conduct roadblocks, compliance inspections, and crime-combatting duties. These efforts resulted in the detention of 43 undocumented foreign nationals, who were handed over to immigration authorities.
A total of 678 persons and 409 vehicles were searched during the operation.
