An armed robbery occurred in Area 2, Mhlasini – KZN, where a family of six was held at gunpoint by four suspects yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded at approximately 23:18 after receiving a call that the robbers had fled the property. Upon arrival, Reaction Officers interviewed the victims, who stated that they were sitting inside their home when four suspects, two armed with handguns, entered the residence and held them at gunpoint. The men demanded valuables and cash.
The suspects stole the following items:
• 2 x laptops: 1x HP, 1x Proline
• 1 x cellphone: Huawei Nova SE 12
• 1 x flat-screen TV: iTel
• R150 in cash
The suspects further forced the female victim to make an electronic cash transfer of R6000 and purchase a Hollywood voucher valued at R2000.
Two suspects then demanded the keys to the victim’s Toyota Quest (picture 2) and drove to a nearby service station to verify that the money had been deposited, while the remaining two suspects kept the family under guard inside the home. According to the victim, the vehicle was later returned, and the group fled the scene in a silver-grey VW Polo Vivo. The registration number is unknown.
No injuries were reported.
