Emergency services are currently on scene on the R617 between Boston and Bulwer following a severe motor vehicle collision involving a truck and a bakkie.
Upon arrival, crews found that the truck and bakkie had been involved in a head-on collision, resulting in extensive damage to both vehicles. Two occupants were found to have sustained fatal injuries and were declared deceased on scene. Two additional patients sustained serious injuries and are receiving advanced medical care.
The injured patients are being stabilised on scene before being transported to an appropriate medical facility for further treatment.
The R617 is currently closed to traffic to allow emergency services to conduct rescue operations and for authorities to conduct their investigation. SAPS, traffic officials, and other relevant services are in attendance.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and make use of alternative routes where possible.
