From Friday 16 January to Thursday 22 January 2026, Police Emergency Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested one hundred and forty-seven suspects, recovered fifty-two motor vehicles and nine firearms.
Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle check points, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 57 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, possession of suspected stolen property, robbery, contravention of a protection order, kidnapping, attempted murder of police officer, possession of abalone, driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal manufacture of liquor, reckless and negligent driving, malicious damage to property, theft, burglary, child neglect, obstructing a member in the exercise of his powers and contravention of the immigration Act.
Fifty-two hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 17 arrests for the possession of these vehicles. Nine firearms were recovered accompanying twenty arrests.
In further policing 53 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroine, dagga, cat (cocaine), mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents. #
