On the evening of Wednesday, 21 January 2026, police in Tshwane conducted a cordoned and search operation at Saulsville Hostel in Atteridgeville.
During the operation, twelve suspects were arrested for possession of drugs, dealing in dagga, possession of dangerous weapons, dealing in liquor without license and contravention of the immigration Act. Three suspects who were wanted for armed robbery that was committed this month were also arrested.
Upon searching the rooms at the hostel, police found a revolver, eight dagga ziplock bags and a replica firearm. Liquor was confiscated as the police closed down an unlicensed liquor outlet.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Tshwane intensified its crime-combatting efforts through an integrated, zero-tolerance Cordoned and Search Operation at the hostel. The operation was planned and executed under the command of the District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major General Samuel Thine and included members from various SAPS units across the district, and Tshwane Metro Police Department.
