Members of the Gauteng Traffic Police arrested 35 undocumented foreign nationals during an early morning operation at Phumlani Toll Plaza on the N1 South.
In the first incident, officers stopped a minibus taxi and discovered four undocumented foreign nationals on board. During the same operation, a second minibus taxi attempted to make a U-turn in an effort to evade the roadblock. The vehicle was intercepted, and the driver was apprehended.
Upon inspection, 31 undocumented foreign nationals were found inside the minibus taxi. Further checks revealed that the vehicle was overloaded and unroadworthy.
The driver was charged with overloading, operating an unroadworthy vehicle, and transporting undocumented foreign nationals into the country.
