Members of KZN VIP Response Teams successfully apprehended a suspect linked to an attempted murder and armed robbery on Sunday evening, near an abandoned building in Rainpath, Phoenix.
Acting on intelligence received, KZN VIP members tracked down the suspect, who is wanted in connection with a violent incident that occurred earlier this week, where the victim was stabbed multiple times and robbed of personal belongings.
The suspect was swiftly apprehended following heavy resistance and an attempted escape. During the course of the apprehension, one KZN VIP Officer sustained injuries while preventing the suspect from fleeing the scene.
SAPS were called to the location to effect an arrest. However, the suspect was not detained at this stage, as SAPS officials advised that a formal case must first be opened by the victim, who remains in a critical condition in hospital.
KZN VIP continues to work closely with law enforcement authorities and wishes the injured officer a speedy recovery.
