Following a public complaint received regarding taxis and e-hailing vehicles driving contra-flow and on the verge between Greenbury Secondary and the Shell Garage on Phoenix Highway and R102, the Durban Metro Police Service Strike Team was deployed to the area this morning.
Upon monitoring the situation, members confirmed that several motorists were indeed driving into oncoming traffic and using the verge, endangering other road users and obstructing traffic flow.
Offenders were stopped and issued fines. During further checks, it was discovered that some motorists had outstanding warrants for unpaid traffic fines. Those individuals were immediately arrested.
Durban Metro Police will continue to act swiftly on community complaints and conduct targeted operations to ensure safer roads for all.
