A 31-year-old man finds himself behind bars after police raided his premises leading to the confiscation of drugs with an estimated street value of R160 000 at Lavalia, George in the Garden Route District.
The accused appeared in the George Magistrates’ court on Friday, 06 March 2026, and he was remanded in custody.
On Wednesday, 04 March 2026 members attached to the Outeniqua K9 and Western Cape Organised Crime Investigations operationalised information received of alleged illegal activities at a premises in Gelderbloem Street, Lavalia.
The members searched the residence when they found and confiscated 260 mandrax tablets, 421 grams tik and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The 31-year-old man, a Nigerian national, was subsequently arrested in connection with the find.
He made his first court appearance on a charge of dealing in drugs, but the matter was postponed to Wednesday, 11 March 2026 for a formal bail application.
These arrest and confiscations are in line with the policing priorities of the province to close illicit drug outlets and rid communities of drugs.
