Fish Hoek police arrested a 49-year-old suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Tuesday, 10 March 2026 at about 13:30.
Members were busy with their crime prevention duties at the Fish Hoek taxi rank when they spotted a suspicious male and searched him. During the search, members found a 9mm pistol concealed on his waist. The suspect could not produce a firearm licence and claimed that he had borrowed it from a friend. Once charged, the suspect will appear at the Simon’s Town Magistrate’s Court.
In an unrelated incident, a 57-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm in Warwick Crescent, Beverly Park, in the early hours of Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
Members of Operation Lockdown III followed up on intelligence about a firearm at an address in Kleinvlei. They searched the suspect’s home at around 01:50 and found an unlicensed 9mm pistol.
Once charged, he will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court.
