Swift action by the Lusikisiki-based OR Tambo District Task Team following a business robbery in the CBD, which occurred on Saturday, 20 June 2026, at about 15:30, by three armed men, led to the arrest of a 19-year-old male suspect from Bazana locality on the same day at about 18:30.
The clothing shop was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money and some clothing items, which were positively identified by the store management after the arrest. The District Task Team immediately gathered information about the robbery and acted on it, apprehending the 19-year-old male suspect.
Found in his possession were a Flywheel revolver with an erased serial number, two live rounds of ammunition, stolen clothing items, and cash to the amount of Nine Thousand Five Hundred Rand (R9 500.00).
Two of his accomplices are still at large, but the team is closing the net on them.
The arrested 19-year-old is due to appear before the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 22 June 2026, facing charges ranging from armed robbery, possession of suspected stolen clothing items, unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
OR Tambo District Commissioner, Major General Norman Modishana, applauded the team’s swift action in apprehending the suspect and urged them to leave no stone unturned in arresting the outstanding suspects in rooting out business robberies in the town of Lusikisiki.
