Police officers from the Durban Central Crime Prevention Unit arrested four suspects for possession of drugs, illegal immigration, and bribery. The suspects aged between 27 and 38 are expected to appear before Durban Magistrate’s Court today.
Yesterday at 16:00, the police officers were in a police vehicle parked along Bertha Mkhize Road in Durban CBD when an unknown person disposed of R500-00 wrapped in plastic and walked away. When the police officers asked him what the money was for, he just jumped into his vehicle and drove off. The police officers chased the vehicle and managed to stop it and conducted a search.
The police officers found four men in the vehicle. None of the men was in possession of permits to be in the country. The suspects were also found in possession of 66 packets of cocaine blocks wrapped in plastic. A cash amount of R6 000-00, suspected to be the proceeds of crime was also seized from the suspects. The four suspects were charged for possession of drugs, bribery, and in terms of the Immigration Act.
