On Saturday, 19 June 2021 at about 09:30, the vigilance of three Mfuleni police detectives conducting suspect tracing operations in the Wesbank area, led to the arrest of a known suspect who was found to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Monchello Street, Wesbank.
The 31-year-old male suspect, is wanted on a string of cases that includes murder and attempted murder. He is a prominent member of a known gang. Preliminary information indicates that the suspect was allegedly sent to kill a witness in another case in Eyeberry Street Westbank.
In an unrelated matter, Ravensmead Tracing Team was busy on Thursday morning with tracing duties at Delphi Street Eureka Estate Ravensmead when they searched a suspicious looking male loitering in the street. The 22-year-old suspect was found to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
On Friday, 18 June 2021, in Leiden, Delft, SAPS members arrested two suspects aged 21 and 30 implicated in an armed robbery.
