A 32 year old man was injured after he was attacked and robbed while waiting to traverse a single lane bridge on Old Main Road in Verulam – KZN today (Tuesday).
The man drove to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Headquarters at approximately 13:04 requesting assistance. He informed Reaction Officers that he was stationary waiting for oncoming traffic to pass over the single lane steel bridge when four (4) men approached his blue Toyota Tazz.
They smashed his window with a brick before one (1) of the males attacked him with a sickle. The remaining suspects searched his vehicle and stole a Lenovo laptop. They thereafter fled on foot in an unknown direction. The victim sustained a deep laceration to his left arm (picture 2). He then drove to RUSA offices where he received First Aid.
Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the robbers, but no arrests were made.
