On Wednesday 14 May 2025 at 12:30, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Community Liaison (CLU) Unit Officers, intercepted a male suspect aged forty-seven(47) for possession of suspected stolen property and possession of fraudulent documentation in the Kwa-Thema area.
Following on information received from a reliable source about a chop-shop the area. Officers acted on the information received and proceeded to an address on Motlamelle Street, upon arrival Officers found a male occupant and introduced themselves. Upon conducting a systems check on the engine parts of the vehicle which came back positive with a Germiston CAS Number for rape and hijacking, while searching the premises, Officers found a South African green Identity book belonging to the suspect with a different name and surname from his Mozambique passport handed to Officers. Three (3) Cellphones were also discovered.
Officers immediately handcuffed the suspect who was taken to Kwa-Thema police station, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property and possession of fraudulent documentation.
He is expected to appear in the Kwa-Thema Magistrates Court soon.
