On Friday 23 May 2025 at 00:30, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Cable Theft Unit Officers, arrested a thirty-two (32) year old male suspect in the Germiston area.
While patrolling on Main Reef Road, Officers caught a suspect in action tampering with essential infrastructure. The suspect was found in possession of a 20-meter underground cable, estimated at a street value of R15 000. A hacksaw, blade and a torch used to commit the crime were confiscated.
The suspect was immediately arrested and detained at Primrose Police Station, facing charges of tempering with essential infrastructure. He is expected to appear at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
