A large-scale crime prevention operation was carried out in the Phoenix area through a joint effort between the South African Police Service (SAPS), KZNVIP, law enforcement agencies, and private security companies, on 1 August 2025.
The operation began with a coordinated roadblock along the R102 near the Mount Moriah intersection, which yielded positive results. Officers conducted thorough checks for drugs, unlicensed firearms, dangerous weapons, and various road traffic violations.
Following the roadblock, members proceeded to known crime hotspots within Central Phoenix. Stop and search operations were carried out in these areas, focusing on suspicious individuals and locations flagged in recent reports. During the operation, multiple dangerous weapons were recovered, and drugs were found in possession of several suspects who were apprehended.
The operation has been hailed as a success and will be an ongoing crime prevention initiative aimed at improving safety in the Phoenix community.
