Members of Operation Lockdown III deployed in Steenberg policing precinct on 26 December 2025, were conducting crime prevention patrols when they received information from a reliable source, of a person who is selling drugs in the area.
At 21:30 the members operationalised the information received and searched a premises in Kamolose Street, Retreat, Steenberg, and a 29-year-old male was arrested for the unlawful dealing in drugs (mandrax, tik and heroine). The quantity of the confiscated items were 62 sachets of tik, 62 sachets of cocaine, 24 mandrax tablets, 16 halve mandrax tablets, seven quarters of mandrax tablets, one packet of powdered mandrax tablets and R700-00 (cash) believed to be the proceeds of crime. The street value of the drugs seized must still be established.
On Saturday 27 December 2025, at 21:45, a 28-year-old male was arrested at a premises in Walton Road, Steenberg on a charge of dealing in drugs. The suspect was found to be in possession of 12 sachets of tik and R670.00 (cash), which is possibly due to the proceeds of crime.
The suspects will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates Court once processed on their respective charges.
