Members of Malmesbury SAPS conducted an intelligence driven operation in Malmesbury, where they searched a premises on Thursday, 12 February 2026. The members found a person with a backpack and searched it. They confiscated 43 rounds of 308 calibre rifle rounds. A 19-year-old male was arrested and will appear in the Malmesbury Magistrates’ court.
In an unrelated matter members of Public Order Police (POP) arrested five suspects between the ages of 21 and 31, in the early hours of Saturday morning, 14 February 2026, when they searched a premises in Zone 31, Joe Slovo, informal settlement in Langa. The members found copper cables with an estimated street value of R210 000.00 in the informal dwelling. They face charges for the illegal possession of copper cables.
Once charged the suspects will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ court on Monday, 16 February 2026.
