The South African Police Service in Garies arrested a 54-year-old male on 10 June 2026 for possession of suspected stolen copper cables, with an estimated street value of R16 200-00.
Following information received regarding the alleged theft of copper cables, members applied for and were granted a search warrant, which was subsequently executed at a residential premises in New Extension in Garies.
Burned copper wires were discovered at the scene and confiscated as evidence.
SAPS commends the public for their continued cooperation and vigilance in the reporting crime.
An appeal is made to the public to refrain from buying stolen property as it constitutes an offence and is punishable by the law.
