In a targeted effort to eradicate drug related crimes and dangerous weapons in local communities, members from SAPS Boithuso Crime Prevention Unit achieved significant success during Operation Shanela II.
Between 18:00 on Saturday, 25 July 2026, and 06:00 on Sunday, 26 July 2026, officers acted swiftly on intelligence-driven information. The operation led to the arrest of five male suspects, aged between 18 and 50, across targeted residences in the Boithuso area, Free State.
During the targeted searches, officers recovered:
Zip lock bags containing crystal meth with an estimated street value of R1,800, a quantity of Mandrax tablets, suspected stolen copper cables, a dangerous weapon (knife) and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The five suspects face charges including possession of drugs, dealing in drugs, possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of suspected stolen property.
All five suspects remain in custody and are expected to appear in the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court soon.
