The members were doing their routine patrols in Lark Road on Saturday 27 June 2026, at around 01:00. They noticed people coming out of the suspect’s house with liquor. They went inside and found the suspect trading and a further search revealed 14 sachets of cocaine. The suspect was subsequently arrested and police seized a total 144 beers and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect will appear at the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s court on Monday 29 June 2026.
In an unrelated incident, members of Operation Lockdown III were on their way to Elsies River SAPS when they spotted a grey Nissan Almera, as they were approaching Stellenbosch Arteria.
A man emerged from the vehicle with a firearm in his hand. Police instructed the suspect to lay on the floor, but three male suspects came out of the vehicle and started shooting at the police while fleeing to a nearby bush.
Members returned fire and apprehended two suspects, aged 34 and 61, for possession of unlicensed firearms, pointing of firearms and attempted murder. One of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound and was taken to a medical facility under police guard. The second suspect will appear at the Bellville Magistrate’s court on Monday 29 June 2026.
