Early this last night, IPSS Medical Rescue received reports of a motor vehicle accident on the Esenembe Road near Ballito.
On arrival of paramedics, it was established that two light motor vehicles collided head-on, leaving eight people with injuries ranging from minor to critical.
Two occupants of the vehicles were entrapped and had to be extricated by the Kwadukuza Fire Department.
Five patients with critical injuries were stabilised on scene before being transported to a specialist facility under the care of IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support paramedics.
A further three patients with minor to moderate injuries were transported to a nearby facility by a private ambulance service.

The circumstances of the collision will be investigated by SAPS.
