The Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received multiple reports via Crime Alert WhatsApp groups regarding a hijacking that had occurred outside a residence on Carden Crescent in the Parlock area.
Information received indicated that four suspects, driving a white VW Polo, had hijacked a white Suzuki Swift before fleeing the scene.
Marshall Security Armed Response Officers and Special Operations Team members were immediately dispatched and, based on information received, proceeded towards the KwaMashu area in search of the suspects.
During the search, officers spotted the suspects’ vehicle and immediately initiated a pursuit together with KwaMashu SAPS.
After a short chase, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot across nearby railway lines, evading arrest despite an extensive search of the area.
A search of the suspects’ vehicle resulted in the recovery of cellphone covers and other items belonging to the hijacking victim that had been stolen during the incident.
A short while later, the hijacked Suzuki Swift was successfully recovered in the Inanda area by the Matrix Ground Team.
The suspects’ vehicle was transported to Newlands SAPS for further investigation and processing.
This incident highlights the importance of rapid information sharing, proactive response, and the close cooperation between Marshall Security, private security role players, and SAPS in recovering hijacked vehicles and gathering evidence to support ongoing investigations.
