With our Back-to-Basics approach to policing and in an attempt to effectively address trio crimes, members from SAPS Uitenhage received valuable information about a vehicle that was allegedly hijacked in the Western Cape last night, 27 September 2018.
Members from Uitenhage SAPS followed up on the information immediately and found two suspects, a 35-year-old female and her 38-year-old boyfriend in Jabavu Street, Kwanobuhle with the suspected stolen vehicle at about 20:05. Members from our VCIU were summoned to the scene and it was established that the vehicle, a silver Polo was stolen on 20 September 2018 in the Strand, Western Cape. Further information was followed up and a second vehicle, a white Polo was recovered in Berige Street, Kwanobuhle. It was established that the white Polo was hijacked in Woodstock in August 2018. The suspects are due to appear in the Kwanobule Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 1 October 2018 on a charge of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle. Investigations are continuing and further arrests are imminent.
The acting Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ronald Koll commended the members for the good work and successful confiscation that was performed.
