Cluster Police embarked on Safer Festive Season operations on Friday, 20 December 2019 from 09h00 till 18h00.
Members worked at Stutterheim, Ndevana and King Williams’s Town policing precincts doing stop and search operations and foot patrols as part of crime prevention duties. Through intensified police visibility, members managed to arrest suspects for possession of drugs, possession of unlicensed firearm and dealing in dagga.
Police intensify high visibility in the CBD to ensure that community are safe and feel safe. During the stop and search operation, Police recovered two hundred (200) mandrax tablets with a street value of more than R15 000.00. Police also confiscated counterfeit CDs.
Further investigation into other cases in Ndevana SAPS, Police arrested two suspects aged 23 and 36 for possession of a .65 Special after they were involved in an Armed Robbery beginning of this month. Dangerous weapons were also confiscated by Police.
The Cluster Commander, Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga emphasized that Police will continue in intensifying high visibility during this Festive season to ensure a crime free society in our policing precincts. He further thanked the members for their dedication in fighting crime and for removing illegal firearms from the streets in preventing crime.
These suspects will appear in different Magistrate’s Courts on Monday, 23 December 2019.
