The Station Commander of Pampierstad police station, Lieutenant Colonel Selebilekgosi Morebodi together with members of visible police outsmarted five men found in possession suspected stolen cattle.
The arrest of the suspects, was executed on Thursday, 06 August 2021 at approximately 17:00 after the Station Commander operationalised Intelligence information.
The suspects aged, 32, 36, 41, 43 and 48 were tracked down and pulled off, as they were heading in the direction of Jan Kempdorp after they loaded two cattle in a white Hyundai bakkie.
When they were requested to present documents to prove ownership, they failed to produce authentic information including documentation related to the ownership of the cattle. The owner of the cattle was notified after members of the Kimberley Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit examined the identification mark on the cattle. According to the owner the cattle were last seen on Wednesday, when they were grazing in the veld near Seoding Village, Pampierstad.
The cattle are worth R30 000-00 and were handed back to the rightful owner. The South African Police will continue to protect properties and fight all forms of crime including stock theft. Livestock owners are advised to continue to brand mark and tattoo their livestock. Brand marked and tattooed livestock are easily identified and the owners can be located as soon as possible when they are recovered from stock theft criminals.
The suspects are expected to appear before Kgomotso Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 10 August 2021 on count of Stock theft.
