A search was conducted for a female after a bottle of chemical burnt through her handbag and clothing near the Ntuzuma – KZN court this afternoon (Friday).
A member of the public contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 15:54 after she witnessed a passenger hastily disembarking from a mini bus. The caller went on to explain that she witnessed the female removing her takkies and some of her clothing. Upon approaching her, the woman informed her that she had a bottle of chemical used to clean toilets in her handbag. During her commute in the taxi, the bottle opened and emptied in her backpack. The unknown chemical burnt through her bag. Her jacket, pants and takkies were also burnt. She ditched her belongings on the roadside and walked in the direction of the M25. The caller could not confirm if the female required medical attention.
Reaction Officers were dispatched to Ntuzuma – KZN where they met with the caller. She pointed out the damaged clothing and backpack to RUSA Members before informing them that she lost sight of the woman. Reaction Officers patrolled the M25 in search of the female however she could not be located.
Several medical facilities in the area were contacted however no reports of a person who had suffered chemical burns had sought medical assistance from any of the institutions
