The Tshwane Metro Police (TMPD) Tactical unit members arrested three suspects and recovered a hijacked vehicle while TMPD Cable Theft Unit members arrested one person for tampering with infrastructure.
The Tshwane Metro Police Tactical unit members were on the lookout for a white Ford Figo vehicle which was used to hijack a Hyundai i20 vehicle and abducted the owner in Nelmapius.
The TMPD tactical members spotted the vehicle at Alwyn Street in Nelmapius with 4 people inside.
The vehicle was stopped and searched, the abducted owner of the hijacked vehicle was found inside with three suspects.
The three suspects were in possession of an unlicensed firearm of which the serial number was tampered with. They were also in possession of the keys for the hijacked i20 and a wallet belonging to the victim.
The three suspects, two males and one female were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and possession of a hijacked vehicle. The hijacked vehicle was recovered.
TMPD Cable Theft Unit members arrested one suspect who was caught while busy digging up a trench at Bremer Street in Pretoria west.
He had already dug up and cut a 3-meter-long cable. The suspect was arrested on the spot for tampering with essential infrastructure.
