A 19-year-old male was arrested and household items stolen during a home invasion on Oak Street in Trenance Park – KZN yesterday were recovered in Zwelisha – KZN.
Residents of Oak Street contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 08:37 requesting assistance. On arrival, Reaction Officers were met by a large group of angry residents. It was established that the suspect was tracked by the father of an 11-year-old boy who was confronted and bound with a scarf by two robbers at their home yesterday afternoon.
One of the perpetrators was armed with a cane knife. A TV, clothing, and takkies that were stolen during the home invasion were recovered at the suspect’s residence this morning. The accused and the stolen goods were transported back to Oak Street by members of the public when they contacted RUSA for assistance.
During an interview with Reaction Officers, the teenager confirmed that he and his elder brother had committed several home invasions in Trenance Park – KZN. They sold the stolen goods to random individuals in Zwelisha – KZN. He further stated that his brother was the mastermind behind the robberies.
The suspect was injured during the course of his arrest.
