The Tshwane Metro Police Department members in region 2 Sector 1 Hammanskraal were conducting stop and search operations in Temba in the early hours of Saturday 02 September 2023.
At around 02:00 whilst they were busy with their operations, a white Mazda vehicle approached, as the TMPD members stopped it, the vehicle made a U-turn and drove away. The members gave chase.
The suspect’s vehicle bumbed into rocks while it was speeding away. Five male suspects that were inside the vehicle abounded the vehicle and fled.
When the TMPD members approached the vehicle, they found dangerous weapons and suspected stolen goods. It was later discovered that the vehicle had just been stolen during a house robbery, that occurred six houses away from the scene where the suspects broke in, assuated the occupants in the house, took groceries, appliances and the vehicle.
A docket was opened at Temba SAPS for house robbery, stolen motor vehicle, stolen goods and properties and assault. The suspects are still at large.
