Earlier today, an attempted robbery and hijacking occurred at a service station in the Cornubia area of Verulam.
The KZNVIP Response Unit, along with Emergency Medical Services, swiftly responded to the scene.
According to the victim, as they were about to exit their vehicle, a white Hyundai i10 pulled up. Three African male suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to open the victim’s car door.
Fortunately, the suspects were quickly deterred when garage staff and nearby community members rushed to intervene.
The suspects managed to flee the scene, and no physical injuries were reported. However, the victims were left severely shaken and traumatized by the ordeal.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident or the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward.
