ELSPRUIT – A 34-year-old male suspect has been arrested after being found in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R600 000. The arrest took place today, 02 November 2025, at about 08:30
The members from Whiteriver flying squad unit were patrolling on N4 just before Lows’ creek turnoff when they spotted a silver Toyota Corolla that was heading towards Nelspruit.
The members stopped and searched the vehicle, upon searching they discovered that it was transporting dagga, 36 x packs of loose dagga contained in plastic bags, and one compressed dagga wrapped in brown tape, total weight of 93,6kg
The driver was immediately placed under arrest for dealing in dagga. The suspect informed members that he was coming from Schoemandal en route to North West Province. The vehicle was impounded for further investigation.
The suspect is expected to appear at Barberton Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 03 November 2025.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, applauded the members for the vigilance and commitment in ensuring the safety and security of the community.
