WESTERN CAPE – Central Karoo Flying Squad members deployed along entrance and exit routes to the province once again confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R56 000.
On Saturday, 01 November 2025 at about 08:00 the members in conjunction with Western Cape Provincial Traffic officials were deployed when they conducted a vehicle check point at Prince Albert Road at the entrance to Prince Albert. The vigilant members stopped an Isuzu bakkie that was en route from Johannesburg to Cape Town. A search of the vehicle ensued when the team found two parcels of dagga concealed at the back of the vehicle. The police confiscated the drugs and arrested a man who was sitting at the back on a charge of dealing in drugs.
He remains in police custody. The 22-year-old suspect will appear in court once charged.
The strategic deployment of police along high ways and secondary routes forms part of the ongoing efforts to eradicate drug trafficking for distribution into communities. These operations are in line with the Safer Festive Season operations which are underway.
