Concerted efforts by police to rid communities of illicit drugs led to the confiscation of 600 mandrax tablets and tik at Beaufort West in the Central Karoo during an early morning targeted operation.
On Tuesday, 18 November 2025, at about 07:30, members attached to the Provincial Anti-Economic Crime Task Team and Beaufort West police operationalized intelligence when the team conducted an operation in Beaufort West. The combined efforts took these forces to several premises at Matroos Avenue, Bantom Street and Nerina Street. Upon searching these premises, the team found 600 mandrax tablets, 19 bankies of tik, 100 grams of tik as well as a prohibited firearm. These items were confiscated and three men aged 31, 38 and 41 were arrested on several charges.
The trio remains in police custody and will appear in the Beaufort West Magistrates’ Court once charged. They are facing charges of possession of drugs, dealing in drugs and possession of a prohibited firearm.
