The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers, arrested two (2) male suspects found in possession of illegal substances and three (3) male suspects for contravention of the Immigration Act (Act 13 of 2002), in Kempton Park.
Following the festive season launch that was conducted in the area, during the operation Officers spotted two (2) suspicious male suspects aged fifty-two (52) and thirty-two years old (32) selling substances at the corner of Atlas and Geldenhys Road in Bonero Park. Officers approached the suspects and a search was conducted. In their possession, they were found with seven (7) black plastic bags of cannabis (dagga) and ninety-nine (99) ziplock bags of cannabis (dagga), with an estimated street value of eight thousand Rand (R8000.00) and ninety Rand (R90) in cash.
Furthermore, three (3) male suspects between the ages of twenty-five (25) and thirty years old (30) were arrested for contravention of Section 49 (1) of the Immigration Act (Act 13 of 2002). When the suspects were approached and asked to produce any forms of documentation that permitted them to be in the country, the suspects could not produce any.
