A pedestrian believed to be intoxicated was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the road in Mt Edgecombe – KZN, near the Whitehouse Shopping Centre, this afternoon (Tuesday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call from a passerby at approximately 18:37 reporting the incident. Upon arrival, Reaction Officers found that the man had been hit by a red Toyota Corolla. He sustained a fracture to his leg and multiple minor scratches across his body.
The driver of the light motor vehicle, who was alone in the car at the time of the accident. He informed Officers that he was returning from work when the pedestrian suddenly darted into the roadway, giving him no time to avoid the collision.
He was not injured.
