A family of seven (7) was held at gunpoint during an armed robbery at their residence in Cornubia Flats, KwaZulu-Natal.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on scene at approximately 03:17 (Tuesday) and established that the family was inside the home consuming alcohol when two armed suspects entered the property. At the time, the main front gate was left open and the door, although closed, was not locked. The suspects produced firearms, threatened the occupants and demanded their cellular phones.
During the incident, the suspects took two Hisense cellular phones. The exact models of the devices could not be confirmed by the victims. The suspects then forced open a locked room within the house alleging that the family was concealing valuables inside. After establishing that nothing of value was concealed in the room, the suspects fled the scene with the stolen phones.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
