Members of Lockdown III conducted intelligence driven operations in Athlone on Thursday, 18 December 2025, and arrested suspects for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and drugs.
The members search identified premises in Anthony Street, Silvertown, Athlone, simultaneously and arrested three adult males and a female on charges related to drugs and firearms. During the search of the premises, the members confiscated mandrax tablets, crystal meth, cocaine, ecstasy tablets and an unlicensed firearm.
The suspects face charges for the possession of drugs and the possession of an unlicensed firearm, and they are due to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court once they have been charged.
