The SAPS #AntiGangUnit continues to combat crime in striving to enhance public safety in gang violence affected areas in the Western Cape Province. On Sunday, 30 November 2025, members followed up information about firearms at a premises in Zonnebloem Street, Belhar, and upon searching the premises they found two firearms with ammunition hidden in the house. A 25-year-old male was arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The suspect will appear before the Bellville Magistrate’s Court soon.
In an unrelated matter, members of the Anti-Gang Unit deployed in Hanover Park, searched a premises in Lansry Walk, where they confiscated a .22 revolver without a serial number and 37 rounds of ammunition. They arrested a 18-year-old male for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He will appear before the Athlone Magistrate’s Court soon.
