WESTERN CAPE – Ridding our communities of the illegal possession of firearms and bringing the perpetrators thereof to book yielded positive results when members of Muizenberg police arrested a 23-year-old man for the possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition on Tuesday, 04 March 2025 at 20:05
The members performed crime prevention patrols in Muizenberg policing area when they received a complaint of a shooting incident in St Pieterse Road, Hillview. The members swiftly responded and approached the mentioned address where upon arrival, they saw the suspect with a firearm in his hand. They then gave chase and managed to catch the suspect and found a 9mm firearm with its serial number removed and ten 9mm rounds of ammunition in his possession.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Muizenberg SAPS for charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
The suspect is scheduled to make his first court appearance in the Muizenberg Magistrates’ court on Thursday 06 March 2025 on the mentioned charge.
