Police in Loxton have arrested a 22-year-old suspect for possession of suspected stolen stock produce and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, following an incident that occurred on Wednesday, 04 February 2026.
It is alleged that a community member approached the suspect to enquire about the smell of fresh meat emanating from the suspect’s shanty.
During the interaction, the suspect allegedly stabbed the complainant with a sharp object.
While conducting patrols in the area, police members were stopped by the injured victim, who reported the incident.
Police subsequently attended to the complaint and proceeded to the identified premises, where the suspect was found in possession of meat.
The suspect failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the origin of the meat and was arrested for possession of stock produce. He is expected to appear in court soon.
