Eight men consuming alcohol at a residence near Trenance Park – KZN were confronted by an armed robber during the early hours of this morning (Saturday, 09/05/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to Mtiyedwa Road at approximately 01:31 after receiving reports of an attempted house robbery.
Reaction Officers arrived on scene and interviewed the complainant who stated that an unknown male entered the residence. His face was concealed. The lone robber produced what was believed to be a firearm while demanding valuables from the occupants.
The victims resisted and fought with the intruder. During the confrontation, the group managed to disarm the assailant and discovered that the weapon was a replica firearm (picture 1). The perpetrator thereafter fled the scene on foot empty handed.
The intruder was allegedly bleeding while fleeing, however the extent of his injuries could not be confirmed.
No injuries were sustained by the victims.
