On Wednesday, 13 May 2026 at 09:00, Thabong SAPS Partnership Policing conducted an awareness campaign at Thabong Sector 1 (James Ngake), joined by Sector 1 Youth Desk members.
The purpose of the awareness campaign was to emphasise and enlighten the community on their role in assisting the police in the fight against crime, strengthening community policing, and taking preventative action.
The following problematic crimes were addressed:
* Gender-Based Violence
* Theft of copper cables
* House robberies
* Assault GBH and gangsterism
Substance abuse was also addressed as it has been identified as a common factor that may lead to other problematic crimes in and around the community. About 100 pamphlets were distributed to community members.
The community acknowledged the visibility of the police as well as the information they received during the awareness campaign.
