Efforts to bring perpetrators of the law to book yielded positive results when members of Worcester police arrested five suspects between the ages of 26 and 40 yesterday, 18 May 2022, for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, business robbery, and possession of presumed stolen property.
The members received information about the suspects who were heading towards Worcester after they perpetrated a business robbery in Riebeeck West earlier. The vehicle was stopped and searched and a firearm with ammunition, cigarettes, and an undisclosed amount of cash were found in the vehicle.
The suspects will make their court appearance in the Riebeeck West Magistrate’s Court tomorrow on the mentioned charges.
In an unrelated matter, members of the Maitland Flying Squad and the K9 Unit responded to a complaint of a business robbery in Kleinvlei yesterday morning. The suspects were pursued by the members after they fled the scene of the crime. A firearm with no serial number was confiscated. Two suspects, aged 30 and 31, were arrested on charges of business robbery and the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
The suspects will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s court once they have been charged.
