Virginia Rural Safety members together with Odendaalsrus Stock Theft Unit apprehended four suspects aged between 25 and 70 following the recovery of suspected stolen livestock worth R38 500, on a farm in Virginia.
On Wednesday, 26 March 2025, at about 08:30, intelligence operationalised information about alleged stolen cattle which has led members to a farm in Virginia. On arrival, members found 11 calves in a cattle kraal. The 70-year-old owner of the kraal was subsequently arrested for possession of suspected stolen livestock after he failed to account for the cattle. Further investigations led to the arrest of three more suspects aged 25, 35, and 56, for stock theft.
The recovered cattle was positively identified by the lawful owner after 12 cattle were allegedly stolen from his farm during the month of February 2025.
Four African male suspects aged between, 25 and 70, are expected to appear in the Virginia Magistrate’s Court soon.
