In honour of Mandela Day 2025, LDV South Africa proudly partnered with community radio station Bay FM 107.9 to turn the spirit of Ubuntu into action. Guided by Nelson Mandela’s belief that “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” the partnership focused on impact, compassion, and community upliftment.
This Mandela Month, Bay FM took to the streets of Gqeberha with a mission to make a difference-and LDV South Africa was there to drive the journey forward.
The day began at Uviwe Child and Youth Services in Gelvandale and Schauderville, where the Bay FM team read stories to children, sparking imagination and inspiration through the power of storytelling. From there, the team headed to Inn Safe Hands Children’s Home, where they rolled up their sleeves to paint and refresh the home’s space, creating a more uplifting environment for the children who live there.
The journey continued to Provincial Hospital, where Bay FM joined the national “Secret Scarves Shhh” campaign-an initiative by 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day that has warmed the hearts and bodies of South Africans for over a decade. Dozens of hand-knitted scarves were hung outside the hospital, each bearing the message: “I am not lost. If you are cold and need me, please take me.” These tokens of kindness brought warmth and dignity to those in need during the chilly winter month.
Throughout this powerful day of giving back, the LDV T60 Max Luxe made every stop count-navigating city streets and carrying supplies with ease, comfort, and strength. More than just transport, the LDV T60 was a reliable partner on purpose, ensuring that every moment of the journey was delivered safely and smoothly.
“LDV South Africa didn’t just get us to our destinations-they helped drive change,” said Bay FM Station Manager, Adorè Morgan. “Thanks to their support, we were able to connect with our community in meaningful ways and honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela through action.”
“Mandela Day is a powerful reminder that each of us can contribute to positive change,” said Neil Barker, Chief Operating Officer of LDV South Africa. “We are proud to support Bay FM 107.9 in their heartfelt efforts, and we remain committed to driving impact through community partnerships that uplift and inspire.”
A special thank you goes to LDV Gqeberha, our newest dealership, for helping to power this drive. Your support on the ground made it possible to deliver comfort, kindness, and care across the city.
LDV South Africa is honoured to have played a role in this important initiative. Mandela Day is not only a time to remember the life and legacy of Madiba, but also a call to action-one that LDV is proud to answer alongside dedicated community leaders like Bay FM 107.9.
