An early morning patrol by a member of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) led to the discovery of an overturned vehicle in Phoenix – KZN at approximately 06:13 this morning (Saturday).
The grey Hyundai Atos had three occupants at the time of the accident. The driver and one passenger were found trapped inside the car. Members of the public, along with Reaction Officers, extricated the injured from the wreckage.
The occupants of the vehicle were suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, which may have contributed to the crash. Paramedics from a private ambulance service arrived shortly thereafter, providing medical attention and transporting the injured to a nearby medical facility.
Several empty beer bottles were found in the car.
